Why we're gathering
In late June 2026, two powerful earthquakes—magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5—struck northern Venezuela within moments of each other. The quakes caused widespread damage across Caracas and surrounding coastal communities: buildings collapsed, power and communications were disrupted, and rescue teams worked through ongoing aftershocks to reach people trapped beneath the rubble. Tsunami warnings were issued for parts of the Caribbean as the scale of the disaster became clear.
Years of economic hardship had already left many communities vulnerable. In the aftermath, families urgently need emergency shelter, medical care, clean water, food, and support as they begin the long work of recovery.
The fund we hope to support
Proceeds from this class are intended for the GlobalGiving Venezuela Earthquake Relief Fund. GlobalGiving is a trusted nonprofit that routes donations to vetted local partners on the ground, providing flexible funding where it is needed most.
Donations to this fund help local organizations deliver:
- Emergency medical care and search-and-rescue support
- Temporary shelter, food, clean water, and hygiene supplies
- Aid to hard-to-reach and underserved communities
- Longer-term recovery—rebuilding homes, restoring livelihoods, and mental health support for survivors
Your ticket is one way to show up for your own wellbeing while standing with those rebuilding their lives thousands of miles away.
